What's On My Hooks, Needles, and Spindles:

Finished:

Spiral Socks for the Youngest Knitmore. Yarn by Shaggy Bear Farms in Merino + Tussah Silk.

A fine day for FO's here on the train! Spiral rib tube socks for toddlers.

Square for Love Blanket 2:

I just love it when a good plan works as it should. 5x5 blocked easily.

If ever there was a tribute to swatching and washing the swatch first to get a perfect 5 inch by 5 inch square, this is it.

In progress:

Applegate Socks: Gourmet Stash on Etsy sold me the yarn, but she seems not to be dyeing at this time. Sock #1 is done right up to the toe, which will be fitted when I see my friend in New Jersey.

Train knitting: added afterthought heel to sick for pal Chris, leaving toe open to be able to fit length when I see her next month.

Mei Mei Socks--n time out until other projects are done!

The OHM Shawl by Michelle Miller. In time out.

Dizzy Blondes:
Tour de Fleece is on!

Primary goals of tuning up my Ashford wheels. have been met.

Washing, plying, thwacking of new yarns have begun! #tdf2015

These are fibers from Lisa Souza and from Red Fish in intense blues being washed and finished. Notice the absolute lack of bleeding. Nothing like being able to buy from the pros!

Here are the dyers whose fibers I spun this year. What did their fibers have in common? ABSOLUTELY NO BLEEDING of excess dyes.

SCUBA! It's been interesting....that is my Buoyancy control device floating around in the training pool.

What is it? It's my buoyancy control device recovering from a great "Discover SCUBA" class at Ventura Dive. GREAT job, Lyle! I'm on for lessons again and SO excited!

The running season has now officially moved indoors to the elliptical, giving me a chance to get past the plantar fasciitis that had set in to my left leg.

Hot Summer running: Remember:
1. Wear layers to adjust your cooling system. Carry water. Or stash it along your route.
2. Carry ID.
3. Wear reflective clothing. Be seen.
3. Carry water for your running dog or have the dog carry it for himself or herself. At a minimum, water your pal every 3 miles, more as needed.
4. Look for the routes where the breezes blow.
5. Avoid concrete and dark surfaces that are too hot to tolerate as you run.
6. Recognize dehydration and treat it right away.
7. Know when to stop. If you run through a damaging situation, you can lose weeks to months of running. Losing one run to concern may save you from losing much more.
8. Wear polarized sunglasses.
9. Do not hesitate to carry water for yourself, no matter how short a run you take.
RUN SAFE!--always be alert to the fact that you can be attacked.

A bit about the Ashford Traditional, since I tuned mine (Gertrude) up for this year's tour. My Ashford Joy (Joy) was also tuned up and used.

The starting yarns--finishing bits and pieces already started on the wheels:

Unwashed, unthwacked bits and pieces, some spun by me, some by previous owners of my wheels. But TdF work this year seems to be about renovating my Ashford wheels and clearing off the unfinished stuff. #tdf2015

Red Fish Dye Works--excellent luxury yarns and fiber blends

Sunshine Yarns--Another Weasley:

Finished another braid this evening--Another Weasley from Sunshine Yarns in merino tercel. A lovely smooth spin on my Ashford Joy.

Jasmin's Kale Salad recipe. I replace cabbage with the broccoli slaw mix in a bag from Trader Joe's.

Fresh Basil pesto:

All ingredients are to taste:
Handful pine nuts

Put all ingredients except oil into good blender. Add small splash of oil, then blend on low, gradually adding oil to taste. Do NOT puree! Just leave a bit chunky.
