Out-Takes: CFR 2012: Part I, Friday

photo.JPG

Friday evening at King of Siam in Tehachapi--we know how to start a fiber retreat properly!

Here is the summary of events at the 2012 CogKnitive Fiber Retreat for Friday, October 12.

And, of course, some news of Nathan's recovery from the heart attack he experienced on the way home from the retreat.

Enjoy!

Out-Takes: Nathan on the Mend

yarma A bazilion thanks to you all for your kind blessings, prayers, good vibes, comfort, and general compassion towards all of us here in CogKnitive-land, especially Nathan. We got him back. That's a picture of him today, sitting with his husband Ron (on the right), in my office. Thanks x 1,0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000....etc. Happiness is not losing your great friend when all seems lost!

Sad News and a Request for Prayer

yarma

Nathan (AKA StrapHanging) packs the 67th bear to mail to Mother Bear Project after organzing another successful raffle that raised over $600. He never wanted to make bears, so he found a great way to support the Project that only he could have carried off so successfully.

We have sad news today.

On his way home from the CogKnitive Fiber Retreat 2012, our own beloved Nathan had a massive heart attack. He made it to a hospital, where they performed cardiac surgery immediately.

We have to wait another 2 days before we really know if he is going to wake up and be our own Nathan again, or if there was more serious damage to his brain. His body is strong, but he did require CPR, so we cannot know if he has serious brain damage.

Please pray for our Big Guy and recruit anyone--churches, listeners, friends, readers--to pray for him.

My heartfelt thanks to you~~Gemma

While we wait for me to post 144...

Here is the spicing for Aab Gousht, which I hope is the proper spelling of the Persian stew I so love to make in the crock pot:
1 tblsp turmeric
1 tsp cinnamon
Half tsp ground fenugreek
Half tsp ground cumin

And the ingredients:
Dried or pickled lemon
Cup unripe grapes
Hunk of raw meat, frozen is fine
Sliced potatoes
Peeled tomatoes
Baby carrots are nice
6-10 cups water

We love this cooked on high for 6-8 hours and served over brown rice.

Episode 144 on the fly

Strategy:
Remember that depressed and/or anxious people really CAN'T feel good. They would if they could, believe me.

Something I Really Like: The oscar-winning movie Shakespeare in Love.

Put A  Lid On It: Pomegranates--more juicing!

CFR updates. Buy your pattern(s) for the Mother Bear bear-making class right here.  PATTERNS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE CFR.
A screwy sort of episode, recorded as I flew about, doing last-minute tasks for CFR2012.

Hear me whine...

I worked from 10 to well after 6 today, saw clients straight through, and I am beat! Two more working days until CFR2012!

That is Jubilee, nosing in to advise me to stop whining!

Minerva joins the Pack!

Here she is, after months of me paying for her in tiny installments. "Minerva", the handmade, signed, and numbered Tina Traveller wheel by Jerry Jensen.
Number 189, stamped on April 25, 1993. Missing only her threading hook.

Back in action, after very little use, despite her age, and after years of disuse.

Best. Spin. Ever!

Immense satisfaction

I blocked the top-down vest just now. A good shape, slightly wide, but a good blocking experience.

Now I wait for a cool day to wear it...

Finished:
The Corinna Cowl  Sorry about that zombie expression...

Still in Progress:

The Pivot Shawl by FickleKnitter (Michelle Miller)...
I am on the knitted-on lace edging!
Tips: Use interchangeable needles and make a really long cable to keep all those picked-up stitches on the needles. Don't expect to get all the picked up stitches on the needles the first time you try...it takes some practice if your stitches are tiny or in lace-weight.

My Hitchin' a Ride Shawl in crochet, not worked on this week.
My Noro Kuryon vest. Still on time-out.
Traveling Woman --3rd repeat of Chart A is done. Nothing new on this one.
The Holly Holiday Stocking .

Dizzy Blondes:

BeeMiceElf fibe--plying the SW Merino in Grapevine.

Spun 4 oz. bump of Lisa Souza SWM in colorway Agua Fresca.
